Susan is an experienced executive and strategic advisor with over 30 years of leadership experience in areas related to both scientific and business initiatives globally. Most recently serving as Group President at The Smithers Group, she began her career there as an entry-level scientist and rose through the ranks to hold one of the highest operational roles in the organization.
Throughout her tenure, Susan led multiple global business units through mission-critical challenges, consistently delivering sustainable, multimillion-dollar improvements in performance. Known for her strong business acumen, sound fiscal judgement, and collaborative leadership style, she has successfully driven aggressive growth, improved profitability, and implemented cost-reduction strategies across diverse operational environments.
Beyond her operational expertise, Susan is a passionate advocate for leadership development. She has led comprehensive initiatives in talent acquisition, leadership training, and succession planning—equipping teams to thrive through mentorship, coaching, and strategic workforce development.
Susan holds a B.S. in Natural Resource Management from Rutgers University and an MBA from Babson College. She is currently advancing her expertise through a Leadership Certificate program at Brown University’s School of Professional Studies.
Today, Susan brings her extensive experience to consulting, where she partners with organizations seeking thoughtful, results-driven strategies to elevate operations and empower leadership. She currently serves on the Advisory Board of EBS Builders in Atlantic Highlands, NJ.
Her goal for Salt Pond Leadership Partners is to serve as a trusted resource for clients as they navigate their next steps in leadership.
